Alyssa's Approach
I have been in practice for 7yrs and am specialized in Children's Mental Health Counseling and Family issues. I began my career with REACH as a DSP for 4+yrs as well as working as a therapist for Juneau Youth Services SBS program and also served as the Children's Program Coordinator and Child Therapist at AWARE for about 3yrs. I have since been providing care at Aurora Behavioral Health as a Clinical Therapist for Bartlett Outpatient Psychiatric Services. Alyssa has a Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Children's Mental Health Certification.

I take a client-centered approach with a very down-to-earth and straight forward communication style. I am solution-focused in my approach and encourage acceptance of emotions and learning to "sit with" difficult feelings. I believe humor and comfortability is important in the therapeutic relationship.

Sessions with me are often psychodynamic and psychoanalytic. Your take away will be a review of several new perspectives, ideas, options and solution focused strategies to implement in your day-to-day. I can ensure that sessions end on a good note, with grounding, meditation, or a goal-oriented discussion to leave you feeling validated and supported.
